What is The Decorating Academy?
We are a group of talented individuals born with a passion for making homes beautiful. Quite simply, we want to share that knowledge and love for decorating with you. There are over 160 decorating shows on television which
tells us that there are many people who are eager to learn how to make a difference in the way a home looks, whether it is your own home or your client's.

What is the difference between a designer, redesigner, and decorator?

Interior designers typically have achieved a certain level of education allowing them to make architectural changes in a space. They have been trained in the technical aspects that will impact on the functionality of a room from compliance with building codes to managing the construction process of a job, and they may also specify colors, fabrics, finishes, etc. Many states require interior designers to have a license to practice in the state.

Interior Decorators are blessed with a natural ability to see a room the way it could be. They are more concerned with the cosmetic aspect of making a home look and function beautifully. A decorator will be well-versed in color theory, window treatments, furniture arrangement, and accessorizing. A great decorator will pursue classes both credited and non-credit to achieve their goal of creating beautiful homes.

Interior Redesigners are a new breed of decorators that specialize in working with what a homeowner already owns to transform a room. Many rooms have great things but they have not been placed properly to enhance the
architecture and function of the room. Much like when dressing ourselves, if we put our necklace on our heads and our hat on our thigh, we would have great elements but they would not do the job because of the error in
placement. Many redesigners may also be decorators or designers as well.

Do I need former education to take your courses?

NO! The Decorating Academy classes are geared to the individual with a passion for decorating. We develop our classes for broad appeal regardless of your educational background.

Why should I take one of your courses?

Students taking our classes will have different needs and expectations. Some of our classes are geared to the entrepreneur who wants to add different decorating services such as interior redesign or real estate staging to
their offerings. Other classes are geared to the individual that has a love for making a home look beautiful and wants to learn a common sense approach to decorating.

In this world of immediate gratification, we know this is an important concern. We did not want to do an e-book format as we want you to have the best quality of printed products possible. Also, each packet includes extras that are related to your class, so within 48 hours of receiving your order, the shipment is the way to you.
